It's been a while since we blogged a henna related post, so here's a special one!
Some really close family friends returned from Karachi, Pakistan recently and these amazing people got us a henna cone all the way from our homeland! Isn't that the sweetest thing? :)
Now why are we making sucha fuss, well then let me tell you henna from Karachi (not sure about whole Pakistan) are the best ones we've tried. The stain is perfect , not too dark and not too light. Just the perfect maroon color. Beside that, the consistency of the henna is just right. No need to chop of the end to get that right circle for the right amount of henna to flow out (this might sound alien language to you if you're not familiar with using a cone, hehe)
So,for the past few weeks we've been trying out henna designs on our palms and the back of our hands at quite late hours of the night or shall I say early morning? :P We like to put henna in a relaxed atmosphere, after completing all chores and when there is no one a around to interrupt us. Unfortunately that only happens when we're about to go to bed :( and we're such slow pokes since we're not pro's therefore it takes us hours to get done with one hand, yeah you must be thinking "we?, for one hand?" Yes, we share lol. When one of us gets too nervous to apply a particular design we're not used to or the one we mess up usually, the other one volunteers to help out ! ^_^
Here are a few experiments with the That henna cone ... which we applied a night before an Indian wedding we had to attend. A few of them are inspirations from other pro henna designers and few are a result to brain storming.

Apologies for a late blogpost! My laptop broke down recently and I was completely cut off with the blogging world :( I hope it gets fixed ASAP I got lots of things to do with my blog layout ^_^
Today I'll be sharing a simple tutorial of a lovely draped shrug made with a long scarf or shawl that's been sitting in your cupboard for ages maybe?
And the best part is you don't need to stitch it up *~* just a few knots and you've got yourself an elegant looking shrug that'll go well with every outfit!
Also it's a perfect modest wear if you think your sleeves are to fitted or short!
So let's begin!
I used a old black & white striped shawl used my mom once. Shockingly it is 106 inches long and 20 inches wide & that's maybe the reason why it was sitting in her closet for years o.O .
You can use a shorter one, but make sure it's rectangular in shape.
1- Fold the material in half, length wise.
2- Hold the top of the two ends (A & B) and tie them into a knot.
3- Tie another knot to secure it.
4- Now this is what it'll look sideways. No.1 is the closed end right before the loops that'll act live sleeves. No.2 is the open end which you split creating the front part of your shrug.
5- it will look something like this after you open it.
6- place your hands through the two loops like so :-
7-now you'll have a draped shrug in front of you. If you want you can stop there and wear the shrug in this style or you can continue by following the image below. What I did was flip those draped pieces behind my shoulders like the arrows below show.
8- now depending on how much material is hanging in front that created the drape, you can adjust how long or short you want it to be from behind.
9- adjust from the front as well so it looks equally elegant.
And VOILA! You've got yourself a quick and super chic shrug that goes well with everything!

So it's been a while since we blogged a recipe or tutorial and after much procrastination we're blogging a very different type of recipe : Cheese fondue!
Now this recipe is my mom's version of the cheese fondue since the authentic one contains some ingredients that are prohibited in our faith. You can also use this recipe to make white sauce.
Let's start!
Ingredients:
2 tablespoon butter
1 cup chicken stock or water
2 tablespoon flour
1 clove garlic
1 cup milk
1/2 teaspoon salt or as required
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 teaspoon mustard paste (for aroma)
1/2 teaspoon soy sauce
1/2 to 3/4 cup cheddar cheese
Instructions:
Melt butter in sauce pan & add crushed garlic and sauté it. Then add flour and stir till it stops smelling like flour (do not burn) and add mustard paste at this step. Set sauce pan aside and gradually add milk and chicken stock, this will prevent lumps from forming. Then place sauce pan back on stove and on slow heat stir until the sauce thickens. Finally add salt, black pepper & soy sauce. Right before serving add cheddar cheese in warm sauce. You can also prepare the sauce before hand and right before serving the fondue warm the sauce and add the cheddar cheese in it. Cheddar cheese gives that yummy cheesy taste to the fondue while other cheeses like mozarella will create that elastic thread texture, so its up to you if you wanna add mozarella or any other cheese or not .
Serve cheese fondue with garlic knots, chopped veggies or toasted garlic/plain bread sticks or even tortillas. It's totally up to you! The choice is endless :) Dip them with skewers or fork.

I'm a face wash and scrubs freak. Whenever I go to a shop or a regular hypermarket I always look at the face washes and scrubs section, I have no clue why I'm so fascinated by them maybe it's the different colors & flavours they come in :D
Since I was getting bored I thought of reviewing a sample from a merchandiser in the Nivea section. She gave our mom Nivea's daily essential refreshing face wash and soft cream.
They're three types of daily essential face washes the one I'm reviewing is for normal skin and is a blue color gel. You're suppose to use it daily but I only use it once in a while, like whenever my skin feels dull or after a tiring day.
So let's get reviewing!
What the packaging says:
-Cleanses deeply & respects the skins's moisture balance.
-Works best when Nivea soft cream applied after wash.
-For Normal & Combination Skin.
-Purifies and invigorates for a fresh skin feeling.
-With Vitamin & Natural Lotus Extract.
Review:
Honestly! I'm in love with this face wash and here's just a few reasons why-
-My skin feels refreshed, soft, doesn't over dry, glows, feels light.
-The gel lathers well so it's foamy.
-It Doesn't have a strong smell, but still smells refreshing and soothing.
-I didn't feel any irritation or burning sensation (cuz I have a slighty sensitive skin).
-My skin felt soft, especially after applying Nivea soft cream.
All of these qualities last for quite a few hours. It's affordable and easily available at any hypermarket and supermarket . And ofcourse I love see through colored gel for no valid reason.
-The only thing I didn't like about it was the amount of times I had to splash water over my face to get rid of the soapy texture. What can I say ...I am a lazy person *_*
Im giving the Nivea daily refreshing face wash 5/5 ★★★★★ with the exception of extra splashes of water on my face.
